Golf is unique from other sports because players learn values like honesty and responsibility by calling penalties on themselves and reporting their own score. The sport is a perfect platform for helping young people develop character because just like in life, players experience the highs and lows of the game.
Thank you for your interest in our youth programs at The First Tee of Northern Nevada. We are committed to providing each participant with a positive experience in a welcoming and safe environment.
The First Tee is committed to instilling high standards of academic performance, personal integrity, leadership, athletic accomplishment, and skills that will benefit youth throughout their lives. The First Tee Life Skills Experience ™ is characterized by a dynamic curriculum, supportive instruction and positive character building. Our program incorporates these standards through classroom, practice facility and on-course instruction. We teach valuable life skills through the game of golf. All young men and women, ages 7-18, residing in Northern Nevada, are encouraged to attend our programs.

Tiny Tees (Prerequisite—none) ages 5-6 – Prior to certification programming, this class introduces youngsters to the basic skills of golf. Sessions are shorter with an emphasis on fun.
PLAYer (Prerequisite—none) ages 7-18 – The entry level class. All new golfers enter the The First Tee as PLAYers and are immediately introduced to playing the game of golf on the golf course and learning some rules and etiquette.
Par: (Prerequisite—PLAYER) ages 9-18– This program is for those who have completed PLAYER. This program focuses on Interpersonal Skills and Self Management and applying those skills to the golf course. Participants must complete 1 nine-hole golf round, as well as other skills challenges and written assessments to graduate to the Birdie Level.
Birdie (Prerequisite: Par ) ages 11-18- This program focuses on Interpersonal Skills, Self Management and Goal Setting and carrying these skills to the golf course. Participants must complete 5 nine-hole golf rounds rounds scoring 63 and under as well as, more advanced skills challenges and written assessments to graduate to the Eagle Level. Mentor training begins at this level.
Eagle (Prerequisite: Birdie ) ages 13-17– Focus is on Interpersonal Skills, Self Management, Goal Setting and Resistance Skills and carrying these skills to the golf course. Participants are required to complete 10 eighteen-hole rounds (scoring 108 and under), as well as more advanced certification requirements. Mentoring opportunities are available and encouraged at this level.
Season Pass– For only $225 you can attend unlimited classes March through October and receive a 50% discount on all PLAY days, camps, and golf clinics. The season pass is available for purchase until April 28. You can also purchase individual classes for the prices listed below.

Looking for some additional golf instruction? Private 1/2 hour lessons are available with Chris Dewar, LPGA, Executive Director to The First Tee participants for $25. For more information or to schedule a lesson, contact Chris directly at 775-857-7619.
The First Tee of Northern Nevada offers beginning and advanced golf camps. Camps are four days long (Monday-Thursday) for 1 1/2 hours. Camps are $85 per participant and cover all aspects of the game including: putting, chipping, pitching, and full-swing. Each participant will get an opportunity to practice on and off the golf course, as well as play a couple holes throughout the camp. Beginning camps are for all participants ages 7-11, and the advanced camps are for those participants ages 11-17.
Our chapter is one of many in The First Tee network. The First Tee is reaching young people in all 50 states and select international locations on golf courses, in elementary schools and through other youth-serving organizations.
